Paradip Port Authority observed the 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with a solemn ceremony at the port township today. Officers and employees gathered to honour the profound legacy of the architect of the Indian Constitution, whose ideas continue to guide the nation’s democratic framework.
The observance began with floral tributes offered by Shri P L Haranadh Chairman, PPA at the statue of Dr. Ambedkar. He shared that Dr. Ambedkar’s vision laid the foundation for a society rooted in equality, justice and human dignity. He added that Ambedkar’s message of social empowerment remains relevant as organisations work toward inclusive development.
Shri T. Venu Gopal, Deputy Chairman, PPA, Sr. Officials – Capt. A. C. Sahoo, Deputy Conservator; Shri Krishna Bapi Raju G., Secretary; Shri Susil Chandra Nahak, Chief Mechanical Engineer; participated in the ceremony. They reflected on Dr. Ambedkar’s tireless efforts to uplift marginalised communities and strengthen India’s institutional framework.
Members of the PPT SC and ST Employees Welfare Association, including Dr D P Sethi, Shri Paresh Murmu, Er. Gangadhar Sethy, Shri Dhuna Chandra Tarai, General Secretary, also joined the programme. They reiterated their commitment to promoting a workplace culture that respects diversity and equal opportunity.
The gathering collectively acknowledged Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to social reform, economic thought and public policy. Participants also highlighted the need to reinforce his principles through continuous community engagement, capacity-building and welfare-driven initiatives within the port ecosystem.
Paradip Port Authority affirmed that it will continue supporting programmes that promote education, empowerment and equitable growth, aligning its efforts with the values championed by Dr. Ambedkar.
